This course aims to develop students’ mathematical skills in an integrated way, focusing on measurement, integers, fractions, and decimals, as well as graphing, data analysis, and probability. It enhances students’ ability to analyze data and solve problems using a variety of mathematical concepts. The unit also covers fundamental geometry, including identifying and classifying shapes and understanding perimeter, area, and volume. Overall, it seeks to build a strong foundation that enables students to apply mathematics confidently and accurately in real-life situations.

What will i learn?

• By the end of the term, students will be able to: Measure length using an inch ruler, find perimeter, and convert units in both customary and metric systems. Understand, compare, and apply positive and negative integers in different contexts. Represent, compare, and operate on fractions, find equivalent fractions, and write mixed numbers. Read, write, compare, round, and perform operations with decimals, and relate them to fractions. Plot points on the coordinate plane, graph relationships, and find lengths of line segments. Collect, organize, represent, and analyze data using graphs and measures of central tendency. Explore probability concepts, predict outcomes, and represent all possible outcomes. Identify, classify, and describe geometric figures, including angles, polygons, triangles, circles, symmetry, and congruence. Calculate perimeter, area, surface area, and volume, and build and describe solid figures.
